At some point, I'll have figured out what exactly it is that I have got to sell. (Wonky cement pots? Baby succulents? Too thick pottery? A perspective?) When that time comes, it will be necessary to have some sort of branding materials, including a logo.
In 2013 I bought funkhouserdesign.com which is currently a non-functional site but remains as good a brand name as any. This was my starting point for a logo.
But logos tend to have a graphic associated with them. After a recent trip to the Hokusai show at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, I find myself even more smitten with the great Japanese artist. At the exhibit, I was especially taken by his studies of water: his sketches of waterfalls and pools looked more psychedelic posters from the 70's more than 19th century woodblock prints.
I picked a sketch I had done after my museum visit, toyed with in in Photoshop, and ended up with these possibilities:
Stamps are ordered. Business cards are on their way. Now, I can get back to making something worth selling...
